Suffragettes in Camden [more]

We've heard news of an exhibition to be held in Camden Local Studies and Archives Centre from 14th June that will interest many of you. “A Stone’s Throw from Westminster: Suffragettes and Other Feminists in Camden” is being curated by Dr Susan Croft and Irene Cockroft of Unfinished Histories. It explores the contribution of suffrage activists based in Camden, setting that history in the larger context of the struggle for women’s rights - from the militancy of the WSPU based in Kingsway to the law-abiding activism of Millicent Fawcett in Gower Street; from the 1912 Women’s March in Edinburgh that entered London at Camden Town to the suffragette who raced a stolen fire engine down Tottenham Court Road.

Plaque commemorating James Burton, the prolific Georgian builder [more]
Wednesday 6th June at 2pm, on the corner of Lansdowne Terrace and Guilford Street WC1
The Marchmont Association is delighted to announce the forthcoming unveiling of a commemorative plaque to James Burton, who was responsible for building much of the Foundling Hospital, Bedford and Skinners' Company Estates between 1790 and 1820.

Marchmont Street Party Archive [more]

The Marchmont Association organised the very popular Marchmont Street Party from 2006 to 2014, with the notable exception of 2011, when we organised a launch event for the Marchmont Community Garden. The event had two simple aims: (1) To bring local people together for a day of fun and (2) To help break down barriers between different sections of the community. It also provided an opportunity for local community groups and charities to raise much needed funds, whilst enabling our many partner organisations to reach a wider audience.

MA Committee meetings [more]

Following a request made by MA supporters at our AGM in May 2016, we agreed to consider posting the Minutes of MA Committee meetings on our website. The Minutes of each meeting have been posted since then and will be replaced with the most recent Minutes after each meeting. See link below.
