Our second local history publication, 'Tales of Brunswick Square - Bloomsbury's untold past', by Ricci de Freitas, is on sale for £19.95 at Skoob Books, 66 The Brunswick (off Marchmont Street), WC1N 1AE; Judd Books, 82 Marchmont Street, WC1N 1AG; Waterstone's, Gower Street; Camden Local Studies and Archive Centre, Holborn Library, Theobald's Road; and at the Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square.

The book was officially launched on 20th October 2014 at the wonderful Foundling Museum, in the presence of the Mayor of Camden, Councillor Lazzaro Pietragnoli and The Right Honourable Frank Dobson MP, with refreshments being generously provided by Waitrose Bloomsbury. Photos of the launch event can be seen on our 'flickr' album via the link below this article.

The 'Tales' tells the stories of notable former residents of the square and the organisations and events which have helped shape its history since its inception in 1792. Famous residents include Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, John Ruskin, JM Barrie and E.M. Forster. Also told are the fascinating stories of Queen Caroline of Brunswick, the Foundling Hospital, the development of the Brunswick Centre, Britain's first Psychoanalytical training centre and Minerva House - home of the Women's Freedom League.

The book is lavishly illustrated throughout, as you would expect from the author of 'The Story of Marchmont Street - Bloomsbury's original high street', with many fascinating images that have never been published before. This is also the first complete history of a Bloomsbury Garden Square to have been written since 1929. Due credit has been given by the author to the many individuals and organisations who helped bring this important social history publication to fruition.

All proceeds from the sale of this book will be used to support the on-going work of the Marchmont Association and the Friends of Brunswick Square.
